KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian police detained a 33-year old man on Monday after he told security officials at Kuching International Airport there was a bomb in his bag. Police said the man, a Malaysian-Chinese on his way to the eastern town of Bintulu, later said the threat was a joke. "But we have to take everything seriously," a police officer at the airport terminal told Reuters. The scare delayed several departing flights from east Malaysia's Sarawak State and caused a section of the airport to close for two hours as a bomb squad carried out a search.
